New York Bar & Club Injury Lawyers – Negligent Security in Bar Fight?

Hurt at a Nightclub or Bar in New York City?

New York law requires bar and club owners operate their businesses in a manner that is safe for the public.

This includes maintaining restaurant furniture such as tables and chairs, repairing facilities including banquet rooms, bathrooms, elevators, stairwells and doorways.

In addition, bar and club owners are required to provide adequate security. Whenever alcoholic beverages are sold for consumption, there is a risk of an intoxicated patron getting into a fight or acting out in other ways.

When club and bar security guards fail to protect patrons in a fight, an injured party may be entitled to financial compensation.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio unveiled his Office of Nightlife to help streamline and improve New York’s vibrant bar, club and cabaret scene. The Nightlife Advisory Board’s 12 members will work with local councilman and neighborhood groups to address concerns of intoxicated patrons near residential neighborhoods, among other concerns.

Bar and club security guards may be expected to detain intoxicated patrons to prevent violence or other public disruption.  Under the Dram Shop Law, a bar owner may be held liable for injuries sustained by the victim of a drunk driving accident, where the driver was served alcohol at the bar.
